A teacher takes a Hand, Opens a Mind and Touches a Heart

The word "teacher" is the noun form of the verb "teach". The word "teach" derives from the old English word toucan which means “to show, point out, or give instruction”.  In 1290, the word teacher began to be used for the index finger, or "one that points out". By 1300, it took on its modern meaning, or "one who teaches".

In India, the word guru is widely used with the general meaning of "teacher". "The word guru means teacher in Sanskrit and other Sanskrit-derived languages like Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, etc. The syllable  'gu means darkness and 'ru' means light ­ therefore 'guru' literally means 'the one who brings you from darkness to light'.  Thus a guru is one who is regarded as having great knowledge, wisdom, and authority in a certain area, and who uses it to guide others.

Teacher is a person in our life who provides many important things together with the good education. A teacher means a lot to his/her students. He/she plays extraordinary roles in our lives from the beginning years of development till we get mature. They mould us and our future accordingly in order to make us a responsible citizen of the country.

Teachers are great sources of knowledge, prosperity and enlightenment to which anyone can be benefited for whole life. They serve as the real light in everyone’s life as they help students to make their ways in the life. They are the God gifted people in everyone’s life who lead us towards success without any selfishness. Really, we can call them as builders of the dazzling future of our nation through education.
