Why Should We Respect Our Elders / Parents

We should respect our parents and elders to show them proper respect. They love us dearly, and are always prepared to sacrifice their enjoyments, comforts and their lives for us.

The responsibilities of parents and elders do not end with simply supplying us food and clothing. Their main duty is to educate them and train up their minds properly with a view to form their character. They watch with keen interest the progress that their children make in then studies.

They supplied us with food and clothing and took every care of us when we were young and helpless. They took care of us when we were very young. Hence, we should always feel grateful to them and love them, and be ready to do all we can for their happiness.

One of the basic lessons of our childhood days is ‘respect your elders’. I am elder so you should listen to me and the best and most confusing one is because they are elders! Now that we ourselves are in this age, as young adults, that respecting elders is as complex and just as simple. A man is judged by his character and this is gifted by the elders. So respect is an obvious to follow.

Respect is how we establish this balance and success comes from balance and stability. If you want to improve your chances of success start respecting those who deserve it. Respect is part of love, love doesn’t exist without respect and respect is one of many signs of love. To let the elders know you care just respects their words and actions. This will cement your relation and trust will multiply in no time. Life becomes easier for us when we have our elders on our side during our struggles.

Our elders love us; they want the best for us. We have to remember the generation gap and meet them half way to really understand their motive. We should respect people who love us and have their best interest in our well being. We are the children whom the elders have seen grow up, they have a say in our life for they care, we have the responsibility to appreciate them. The least we can do is respect them.
